During my Graphic Design 3 class, I had the opportunity to do a COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) project. During this, my class, the students at Florida International University, along with the students at Central University of Technology in South Africa collaborated together in our respective groups. This project was under the theme "Draw A Child," where we all made our own unique posters to represent a child facing through an issue in their lives.
Made in: Clip Studio Paint Pro

For my poster called "Acceptance," I decided to represent a child that I can see myself in. Cultural identity is quite common due to the fact that there are so many people and different cultures in the US. Sometimes it gets difficult believing you can fit in with the views that people have or just from how they view those that are "different."
Difference doesn't mean bad, and to me, it was hard to understand what group of people I should associate myself with and what kind of person I should be. Should I be like my parents? friends? strangers? anyone around me?
So with this poster, I drew a sad child trying to sleep at night wondering why their difference or culture is seen as bad. When you grow up with all this confusion, it can be overwhelming and that's why I drew her tears as something that is overflowing.
